“liǎnɡ” v.s. “èr”:
Both “liǎnɡ” and “èr” mean “two”. In modern Chinese, “liǎnɡ” is used instead of the regular “èr”, when it is followed by a measure word. When combined with other numbers, “èr” is still used.
e.g.
liǎnɡ ɡe rén (2 people)
shíèr ɡe rén (12 people)
